08 Nov Saving Lilly
Our work makes a big impact in saving animals’ lives. Consider Lily, a kitten whose mama was abandoned by her owner when she became pregnant at just six months of age. Without veterinary care and with barely any food on the streets, Lily’s mama was barely able to care for her babies and herself. As a result, she lost three litters of kittens back-to-back. It wasn’t until a Good Samaritan reached out to us that we were able to take in this young mama cat and her remaining kittens, all fighting for their lives. We placed them under the care of a veterinarian, who was able to treat their upper-respiratory infections, coccidia, and fleas.
Though we lost one of the kittens the first night, we are happy to share that Lilly, her brothers, and her mama made it through and are all thriving. Although Lilly experienced permanent damage to her eyesight through the trauma of life on the streets, she and her family now have a second chance at life. Today Lilly knows no boundaries as a joyful GARC sanctuary cat who loves using her six senses to have adventures with her brothers and other kittens at the sanctuary. Your support through our #GivingTuesday2020 fundraiser will save cats like Lilly and many other animals in distress in our area.
